When it comes to exploring those stories closest to her, Gaylene Preston asks: documentary or drama?  In the case of her recent film, the critically acclaimed box office hit Home by Christmas, Gaylene has seamlessly blended the two into a radically new hybrid form. The film is a finalist in many categories of the forthcoming Qantas Film and Television awards including Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay and Best Director.

Join award-winning documentary-maker Leanne Pooley (Untouchable Girls, Haunting Douglas) in a discussion with one of New Zealand’s most celebrated film-makers on navigating the contractions, conflicts, and secrets of a personal family story.
