Pita Turei comes from a background in Dance and Theatre, touring Nationally and Internationally with a Pacific focus. He became a stuntman in the emerging NZ film industry that started with Sleeping Dogs, branching into physical SFX before producing and directing a series of independent kaupapa Maori documentaries. Pita has become known as a story teller and orator connecting a new generation with the ancient histories of Tamaki Makaurau.

With NAW Pita has established a national network of workshops to advance the production of quality stories in Te Reo for existing and yet to be dreamed of distribution platforms.
