Kathryn Burnett

kbrocksKathryn Burnett is a screenwriter, playwright, and script development consultant who has worked as a writer for 15 years. She is the co-creator of new TV2 show The Cult and her writing credits include Amazing Extraordinary Friends, The Lost Children, Holly’s Heroes, The Strip, Street Legal. She is working on several primetime TV dramas in development and is currently the Story Editor on three feature films. Her Story Editor credits include Poppy and The Ferryman. In 2007 she was a Semi-Finalist in the Big Break International Screenwriting Competition. In 1999 she published “Has Johnny Come Lately?” (HarperCollins) which was developed from her Qantas Media award winning humour column.

In 2004 she won the inaugural KFM Short Story Competition and in 2003 she won an AFTA for Best Drama Script (with Paula Boock) for “The Strip.” She also received a British Council Screenwriting Scholarship, which saw her spend 2 months with BOX TV in
London. In between writing assignments she tutors in screenwriting and works as a script consultant in film.
