Ella Henry (Ngati Kahu ki Whangaroa, Ngati Kuri, Te Rarawa), M. Phil (Auckland) Management Studies & Labour Relations
Ella is currently a senior lecturer at Te Ara Poutama (the Faculty of Maori Development) at Auckland University of Technology.
Ella was the presenter of Maori Television’s Ask Your Auntie for three years before moving back into academia. She is the Vice President of Women in Film and Television New Zealand and is currently completing a PhD focussing on Maori working in film, video and television. She has three daughters and lives in West Auckland.
Ella has been involved in Maori education and development as a researcher, academic and lecturer for much of the last fifteen years. She has worked extensively with Maori organisations developing their governance, management and strategic planning capacity.
Ella’s extensive work experience has included being the Manager of Maori Health Relationships for Plunket, the Head of Puukenga School of Maori Education at Unitec New Zealand Institute of Technology, a lecturer in Management Employment Relations at Auckland University, and the Executive Director of Greenpeace NZ for two years.
