FEATURE: 26 OCTOBER 2009
August 2009 saw Script to Screen run a series of events as part of its new Te Ao Marama Creative Development Programme.
Australian writer/director/producer Rolf de Heer and his partner, documentary maker and website creator Molly Reynolds, were in
New Zealand for a week in late August. Rolf was the focus of several events including Writer’s Rooms in Auckland and Wellington, a seminar about his filmmaking philosophy, and a masterclass for screenwriters. He also participated in a script focus programme where he worked with two selected feature writers (Cushla Dillon and Rebekah Palmer) on their current scripts. Molly Reynolds presented a new media seminar in Auckland on multi-platform
storytelling.
Earlier in August Tom Abrams, who was in New Zealand running workshops for the Screen Directors Guild and the New Zealand Film Commission, ran a screenwriting seminar for Script to Screen.
Brief notes by Kath Akuhata-Brown from Rolf’s sessions, In the Greek tragedies you don’t know what the gods had for breakfast…
